Yes.

The metal provides the grounding.

Either buy a new RCA input and replace the damaged one yourself or have someone repair it.

Does that mean that the outer part of an RCA connection plug is a 'common ground'.

The reason I ask is that I just had 2x 3-way RCA cables delivered to use for the multi-channel in on my amp, and have found that the metal jackets on the plug (which look to be electrically common with the outer part of the connector) are so bulky that when they are all plugged in together they can touch each other.

If they are just common ground though, then it shouldn't matter?

Yes, the grounds would be common. In fact, if a ground isn't common, you are more likely to suffer humming. You usually get a hum when two component have independent grounding rather than sharing the same mains earthing circuit.
