    Let me explain:

MESECAM is a recording system not a broadcasting system. If you have a MESECAM vcr like me you can record a SECAM signal and play it correctly (in colour) in a normal PAL tv. But ther is no compatibility with PAL or "real" SECAM vcr's i.e., you cannot record or copy MESECAM in anything else than a MESECAM machine. My equipment consists of

    a PAL/MESECAM vcr: Sharp VC-FH30
    a PAL/NTSC vcr: Sony SLV-E811
    a PAL/NTSC plasma tv: Sony KS-T32S2
I plan on getting a DVD recorder like the Pioneer 3100 but I need to be able to play those tapes. I have even sent a mail to Pioneer Europe but who knows when they're going to answer me...

thanks MarkE19 but I've been through those sites 100s of times...

my interest is in recording these tapes to dvd so I need a MESECAM DVD recorder (I think....)

from other posts I've noticed that someone by the name of Richieb1971 is probably knowledgable in this stuff....
