Meridian M1 Active Speakers? Past Their Best?

Hello all,

I am after some advice regarding the Meridian M1 Active loudspeakers. My Dad has a pair of these he has had since the eighties or so. He has recently moved back to the UK and is looking into getting a sound system organised.

Do these speakers hold their own these days or are they beaten fairly easily with modern tech? Should he store them away and look into some modern speakers. I would imagine he wont want to spend much more than £1.5k. What would these Meridians be worth these days?

They still sound pretty good although it is very difficult to gauge then compared to my B&W's for example, as I can't get them in the same room.

Does anyone here have experience with the Meridian's or even remember them at all!??

Thanks

They were great in the eighties and old doesnt mean bad. If they sound good they are good. Unless something in them is damaged I wouldnt change them
