I thought you were going to take the advice we gave in your other thread and stick with the RAM you already have
Increase Memory From 12GB- 16GB | AVForums

If you want to upgrade then it's you money, but as said in the other thread you are unlikely to get any real world benefit if you do.

Sorry I completely agree in what you all said Mark I regretted what I wrote as soon as i done it.I am going to get the experience or as much as i can over the next few mths with my PC. And then as i am now retired i would want to upgrade everything at a latter time expect the video card which I have just brought to replace the old one which was 4 years old as is the rest of the kit which by today's standards is is a Antique. I know I am just build this P.C but the parts where brought in 2010 so this build I would presume is outdated for the modern games. But I am very Patient. I will play some of my old games I am of course very proud of my first computer build. Especially at my age (64) & the great help & Advice ( which i do listen to honest) that you guys have given me. So as I slowly upgrade my computer the parts from this one will not go wasted as I will upgrade my wife's PC As i feel I have the confidence now ( I hope) to build a other one as I quite enjoyed the experience more so when you first turn it on and everything comes on. I will now give my self a slapped wrist for asking that stupid Q it was not meant to happen

Don't apologise, it is up to you how you spend your money. I just wondered if anything had changed to make you want to upgrade the RAM again.

As I've previously said I don't use my PC for gaming, so any advice I give will not be with gaming in mind. However I doubt everything is too old for the latest & greatest games. As I see it the main upgrade that is regularly required for gamers is their graphics cards - but hey I could be way off here. Yes there are going to be faster CPU's that would give an improvement, but you still have a fairly up-to-date PC so don't feel you need to upgrade.

I know all about that joy when your new build powers on for the first time - or not in my case. My first build all went to plan until I tried to power it on for the first time and nothing happened. Frantic checking of all the cables and head scratching until I noticed the rocker switch on the back of the power supply was set to off

Thanks for that advice Mark I do not like to waste money like everybody else does not like spending if they do not have to. Do you know what I done exactly the same as you when i first went to turn on my computer and there was NOTHING ! It must be a thing that all budding PC builders have to go though like a initiation. With me I thought MY GOD!!!What have I done like Nightmares did I fry the motherboard with static because I forgot to wear my anti static band at one time. But like you Mark I forgot to turn on the master switch on the PSU and everything came on. Boy! did i feel great I was so Happy I brought the wife in to show my pride & joy still bursting pride like a new father showing his first child ( well that's a bit of a exaggeration ) What did she Say is What most wife's say "Very nice dear" What a downer all them weeks stuck in my study reading computer books & watching teaching videos from our colonies across the pond ( I wish some of them would talk a bit slower though so I could understand what they where saying) She never once asked what I was doing I mean i could of been watching porn or chanting up girls on the PC ( YEH FAT CHANCE) but Now I am contented until the next build
