Has anyone got a Multimedia Card Reader? What are your thoughts?
Q1 - faster than download from camera / about the same/ slower?
Q2 - is there a big difference in real time between USB 1 and USB 2 transfer speeds.
Q3 - is Memory Stick Pro important or will the standard Memory Sticks from Sony work just as well.
Q4 - what about third party memory sticks? Are Lexar and MSA any good?

    Your help appreciated.

    Regards

I use a reader fitted into a 3.5" drive bay and connected to an internal usb 2 connector.

It shows as a number of removalable drives and is faster than connecting my camera via usb.

I don't know precise speed tests, but I would describe file transfer via usb 2 and win xp as "very much faster" than usb 1 and win 2000.

Don't know about memory sticks, but I have had no problems with any brand of other memory cards (CF, SM and SD) and they all seem the same for the general stuff I do.

I also have one in a 3.5" bay, connected via usb2 (internal).
Basically the same details as woody67.
It's ease of use is what appeals to me...
I've used all types of memory card without problems - inc. memory stick - haven't used memory stick pro though.
I'm not sure about other card-readers, but I have copied from one type directly to the other - as each 'slot' is shown as a separate drive.

Thanks for your help guys. I ordered the Lexar 8 in 1 memory card reader along with a Sony DSC-P72 from Pixmania.
