Where is the best place to buy a memory card for my sony w1 camera.
I am just a casual user used for holidays, parties, etc.
Do i need a memory stick, memory stick pro ?
Does it have to be Sony?
Your thoughts would be most appreciated.

cheers guys

As far as I'm aware the only requirement for using memory stick pro is in movie mode where you'll be able to record 30fps, with the regular stick that drops to 16fps.
Try online at 7dayshop and/or PicStop and it doesn't have to be Sony branded :)

I have a W12, apart from the extra capacity, as zone said, the only benefit is recording video in higher quality.

go for whichever is the cheapest make, probably sandisk.

Whether 256 or 512 is best is entirely up to you. If you need the extra capacity go for 512, if not go for 256.

I bought a sandisc 512mb card for mine as it seemed the best value in mb/£.
Have a look on www.pricerunner.co.uk for the best deal.
It may be worth getting a memory stick duo if they are a similar price, this is half the size but comes with an adapter, giving you more flexability if you want to use it in another device in the future.
If you use it on holiday you are going to take more pictures than usual and may not be able to download them 'til you get home so it's worth having plenty.
