I also received my copy from Play247.com and i must say I'm very disappointed about the lack of extras.I can live with it because I love the film (Up to now my film of the year with Requiem for a dream) and the USA version isn't exactly a fully loaded special edition. It's still a shame they didn't see fit to put the small amount of extras on the Canadian version.<br />This is the first time I have known this happen betwen USA and Canadian Region 1 versions of the same film! Can anyone else recall this happening before?

    Just recieved from PLAY247

There are NO...REPEAT NO EXTRAS ON THIS DISC AT ALL. It seems that the Canadian release is handled by a totaly different company than the American release

So, if the extras are important to you, go with places like discemporium, and not canandian sourced dvd web suppliers

BEGS THE QUESTION, WHY THIS SORT OF THING ALWAYS HAPPENS!!!!!

...ahh... but, you see, the R1/Canada DVD does have one 'special feature' that the R1/USA release doesn't have...:

    <a href="http://www.dvdfile.com/interactive/forum/ubb/Forum5/HTML/003948.html" target="_blank">http://www.dvdfile.com/interactive/forum/ubb/Forum5/HTML/003948.html</a>

...so, you see, as so often, the grass is much greener yaddayadda...

Thought for today: DVD is won-der-ful, because -with almost every single release- it allows a person to find something to complain/gripe/bitch/whinge about - be it packaging, extras or lack of same, anamorphic or non-anamorphic transfers, correct or incorrect aspect ratio, subtitles or lack thereof, cut?/uncut?/partially cut?, original version vs. director-approved altered version... to mention only a few complaint-worthy subjects...

When I bought the Special Edition of the Abyss from Play247, the THX logo was in Dolby Digital. The rest of the film was in Dolby Prologic. This was a canadian disc, so I recently bought it again from Movietyme, who delivered a american DD5.1 version of the film.

...sigh... the Belgian DVD on the BELGA label does indeed have a -supposedly full-bit- dts soundtrack ... BUT ... that version is also CROPPED - from the correct AR of 2.35:1 all the way down to a widescreen-TV-friendly 1.78:1... meaning: you get to hear 'better' sound, but you also get to see about 25% less picture...

    ...whatever floats one's boat...
