    Hi all

While surfing for a cheap, light digital camera to use on occassions where I don't want to take my main camera, I found the Megxon M500 on eBay(example: eBay item No. 7537677723). The description seems almost too good to be true for such a cheap item - so many features and a fairly high spec. I am tempted to get one, but can't help being dubious especially as I can find very little info on it and no reviews elsewhere on the web.

I would therefore be very grateful to hear any views or opinions on it whether you actually own one, or have just heard anything about this model. For that matter any views and opinions on Megxon cameras in general would also be very interesting.

Thanks very much for reading my post!

    Kind Regards

    Jon

Forget it. You`ll only be disappointed.
    Stick to major brands.

    Thanks for the reply longleyc.

I know where you're coming from, and if I was talking about my main camera, I would be inclined to agree with you. But my expectations will not be huge - I am basically looking for something small and light that can snap a few photos on occassions where I don't want to take my main camera - the quality won't have to be fantastic. The fact that it is also an MP3 player and can record from TV, DVD, etc is just a bonus.

Is longleyc's view the general concensus? Has anyone out there actually got one of these, or at least seen one?

    Cheers

    Jon

Don't do it. As longleyc says it'll be rubbish.
If you want a cheap camera but an entry level from a decent manufacturer.

At £115 you wouldn't be dissappointed with something like this.

My advice is if you want a camera, buy a camera and not something that has 10 other functions.

    Matt.

    Matt and longleyc

Thanks for your advice - much appreciated. That link from Matt shows that you can get a very good piece of kit from a top brand at a very reasonable price. Why risk over £100 on the unknown, when you can get something lik this for pretty much the same price.

    Cheers

    Jon

If you want a very portable snapper, the SE K750i cameraphone (2mp autofocus)would give results as good as a cheap p & s.

    Hi Overlord69,

Shot 1 is Clitheroe high street from the castle.

Shot 2 is the harbour front at Conwy in North wales, looking at the castle.

its not a cheap point and shoot though is it???? they go on ebay for £200, more so from a retailer, £200 will get you ALOT more features etc for a small compact.

if you know where i could get one from for alot less than that i might be interested, my mobile died a few days back and im now "without phone"

There's no doubting that Camera phones are good for what they are but my advice would still be to spend the money on a camera. Things like a flash, optical zoom etc are all important aspects of even an entry level camera that you won't get on a camera phone (at least for anywhere near the same price if at all).
If you could buy good camera with a poor phone built in do you think many people who wanted a good quality phone would buy them and walk around with them held to their ear. Probably a crap analogy but you get my point.

It was just a suggestion as we all carry a mobile, nothing to get flustered about. If you want to replace the mobile and save carrying an extra camera for snaps, the K750i is ideal. And you can get a flash for it.
