Great start to the day! Just got off the phone from the bank who tell me I have been ripped off to the tune of 1K!

Wife told me not to take it personally, how can you not take it personally. Someone has virtually reached into my pocket and grabbed my hard earned dough! OK maybe I was reaching a bit when I said 'hard earned' :D

Think it happened when i visited a petrol station recently :lesson:

Now on bread and water 'til bank refunds me!

Here endth the lesson

Funnily enough I was told they were having fun gambling. Hope they lost. Will be getting refund. I would like to get hold of the b*****ds who did this!!

I remember reading someone who recently had his card used on a betting site, strange thing they won him some money! I belive it was big money also.

Sorry about to hear about your loss.:(

that's what i never understood - if you gamble on most of these sites (i love a punt:)) they pay the winnings back to the card that the bet was placed on... it beggars belief that somebody would do my money on a bet with no prospect of them winning... there must be a way to change the payout method i guess but i never found one...

at least you're getting the money back - just hassle really...

Yeah, when about £700 was taken from my Barclaycards last year, they spent it all on gambling sites.

No, I am afriad thats is ilegal for a UK based company to refund a payment to another card other than the card that was used.(We all know that companies will sometimes bend the laws)

Lost or Stolen cards can also be refunded even if they have been stopped. Its classed as money in rather than money out. (Which Bank would not like Money In)

There is another Fraud kicking around due to the fact that electronic payments can take 6+ years to clear on your account.! Yep if you buy some food from Tesco's they can take that money 6 years later. As its aproved at the point of purchase and your balance at that time then your bank has precleared this payment.

Note these types of payments sit outside the suspense system as they are in a strange way cleared funds.

I don't think alot of people know this !

Im allways worried about this happening to me. What with beeing a single income family and living month to month. having to wait for the claimback could be hard
I noticed something like this the other day on my account for the last few months there has been a £1 in limbo. nothing to worry about it beeing a pound but its a hold ont h account i could not account for. Turns out that some company may have taken a swipe of the card and held the £1 as a deposit to draw off later like a holding payment. After mentioning it to the bank the other day it seems to have been wiped off/ gone away.

Makes you wonder what can be done with thte holding system and could they then put in a higher amount years down the line??

funnily enough another one here, some **** used my card on betfair to the tune of 200 pounds about a week ago, some people sound like they have been through the claim process, how does it work, how longs the wait etc?

Cheers.

Very sorry to hear about these people who have been skimmed. Especially the ones using their debit cards who have lost the money from their accounts.

If you are concerned about this sort of thing, just get a credit card. Any fraudulent use will be refunded back to you. But using a debit card is just a bit too risky these days. Although I appreciate some people are not able or do not want to get a credit card for various reasons.

Had to change my CC last week as someone had tried to use it on an internet casino site. The bank actually called me and told me about it. Smooth procedure and had a new card in 2 days.

Would it really make a difference since they would only be losing what was your money:rotfl: maybe he would have paid you back if he won.
