Having been on my first, and defo not my last group meeting now. I wondered about having a separate sub forum for such events. That wan they wont get lost in General Chat.

    What are your views peeps?

Hmmmm as much as I'd like to keep the sub-forums to a minimum it is certianly a good idea as, as is the nature of meet threads, they often dissapear into the depths at times.

However the problem I see with a new 'meets' section is would you check it?

It probably wouldn't be somewhere you went to every day and so there would be the danger that you don't check it for long periods of time and end up missing something. (Especially to new posters who might never think of checking in that section.)

I see your point Ally, but at least it will be somewhere. I would check it regularly myself.

The general thing is to keep current meetings ( proposed and recently done ( Like West London Meet )as a sticky for a while
Creating a Subforum might involve more work than it seems, and besides , the most recent forum " reorganisation," seems to have upset as many folk as it has pleased

I think a sub forum for meetings would only benefit a minority and not the majority of users. There are other methods of keeping tabs on threads.

which is fair comment , but , what harm would there be in helping the minority :)

i think with the majority of people are against the new sub forums so a sticky at the top is enough. IMO the photography forum on AVF worked better as a single forum, it's tried to replicate other photography sites without great success

it works for other forums who seem to have meets all the time but for the odd meet every few months i don't think it warrants a sub forum.
