A quick heads up to let you guys know that Meedio TV has finally been released, if your card is not supported it will upload the data to meedio and over the next few weeks support for these cards will be added.

Er Meedio with the included TV module - www.meedio.com

When you say the current console worth owning I assume you mean that is chock full of racing, sports and fps games - no thanks :) although I really like Ninja Gaiden

I still have a copy of their pre-commercialised version of the software called myHTPC lying around somewhere. It was good, but then they stopped the free version and renamed to meedio, pretending myHTPC never existed.

Can't expect the writers to fund a free but non open source version forever I guess. Just hope GBPVR will can stay free.

I used to have a myHTPC front end but these days I've gone back to normal windows. With a gyration mouse its arguably less hassle anyway.

I'm either watching TV with DigiTV ( which works fine with its own remote) or surfing the net which really is best done with the mouse or watching a film in TT which again I find best with the mouse.

I can tell digiTV lo load at start up so effectively the HTPC initially behaves like a big freeview tuner for the wife and kids.

I used Meedio Essentials for over a year. Its a great product, but misses the "wow" factor and conveneince of Windows MCE. I switched to MCE last week and it is in a different league.

All things said, Meedio is catching up and has lots of plugins available and is a good alternative.

Try Mediaportal. Ive been messing with it recently, and its great. With the MCE skin, it is basically MCE but its much more tweakable. Its open source too, and theres loads of plugins for it.
