Does this mean myHTPC is no longer free to use?

No, myHTPC is still free. Meedio will cost you around £24.

If you're not already registered at www.myhtpc.net and are interested in meedio I suggest you register now as it will entitle you to a $20 discount off meedio bringing it down to $39.99. I reckon it's gonna be an essential purchase for HTPC users , just like Theatertek 2 will be when that (finally) arrives!

    Cheers,
    Andy.

I've bought Zoomplayer Pro, and Powerdvd 5. I'm working on creating an automated installation for a P3-933 as dvd htpc. I've yet to try myhtpc to be honest, but have been meaning to for ages. I know Theatretek is supposed to be good, but need to watch the money for a while.

meedio has a built-in dvd player that will use your powerdvd5 codecs.

Now that's most interesting. I wonder if it can allow for multiregion playback - my pioneer dvdrom is regionfree in firmware.

theatertek codecs work with meedio, you can also launch theatertek from meedio if you must.

Thanks for the heads up.. just registered with the forum so I can take advantage of the discount if I decide to purchase after a trial is released. Not likely to though, at the moment I'm pretty covered with Zoomplayer for media files and Theatretek for DVDs. Never really felt comfortable with frontends as they seem disjointed from the programs doing the work. Using Zoomplayer file navigator with my remote wonder is pretty much all I need and works great without any additional configuration.

Still Meedio looks like it could be the answer to my HTPC prayers and finally integrate seemlessly the actual player with the front end. The price, after discount, seems very resonable if it works well.

Whats the news on TV support? Is it going to be like sage and MCE with hardware encoding only?

It would be nice if this will be improved from myHTPC. I've been looking for a while now for a front end that will work nicely with a sweetspot card.
Showshifter to me still needs more development but meedio could be the one.

I tried registering earlier this week but then it said it couldn't send a confirmation email. Now when I try to reregister it says a user already has the same user name and e-mail so won't let me reregister

Have you tried loging in to the forum?

All plugins like TV etc are built into meedio and are not external programs like myhtpc, so everything integrated really well.

Yes, I've tried that. It just says that the username/password are inactive :(

Guess I'll be sticking with MyHTPC for now.

Have anyone compared Meedio with Xlobby?

    Is it worth the $39?

Brad (beyond) has a review of this up on www.htpcnews.com

Looks pretty promising so far, esp the theme designer. Just hope there's foobar and zoomplayer plugins soon for it as I've grown quite attached to them now.

    Hmm I get

    "phpBB : Critical Error

Could not connect to the database"

when logging on to the site to register.

Anyone know the deadline for registering to get a discount if I decide to buy?

    Cheers,

    Mark.

    {EDIT}:- Seems OK now :)

already passed I'm afraid, what you can do though is download the
installer today and get the same discount for 24hrs (rather than until
sept 1 like the older forum members), not as long a trial but at about
£25 not too much of a risk either.

TBH, I wasn't sure whether to go for this as friends (Hi John & Nathan;)) have had great success with XLobby.

1 Day is a pointless to offer for a trial so I'll give that a miss on that basis. From what I gather Meedio has no PocketPC interface right now which is why I'm leaning towards XLobby.

@ Crispy:- If you're not going to use that code and it's legal for me to then great, thanks! I'd like to use it to try the Meedio inferface.

This way I get to compare both which would be most helpful.

    Thanks :)

    Mark.

Mark, its a 15 day trial so you can have a play to see if you want it or not, it also has a pda interface so it pretty much will do anything you want it to regarding HCPC's and Home automation.

Good news about the PDA, I was unaware of that.

Will I be able to take advantage of your coupon code to buy at the introductory price?

    Cheers,
