Media streamer to monitor?

Standard Member
Can a media streamer be connected directly to an LCD monitor rather than a tv?

presently got an old freecom 35..

Yes though it may depend on the connections

If the LCD display has a DVI connection and the media player has a HDMI connection a simple HDMI->DVI cable should suffice.

If it both devices have neither of the above only VGA, component or composite video there are specialist converters you can get that will convert the video into a VGA signal which the monitor will accept.

monitor has vga input and media player has s-video and composite video output...

any idea of what specialist devices are available at a reasonable price? - a google brings up a variety of 'multiple vga boxes' but they all seem to be pretty expensive and related mainly to gaming.
