Has anybody tried plugging a media player with stored files on an external HDD? I am getting my Xbox One at the end of the month and I have a WDTV media player with a 2tb HDD plugged into it.

Would it be worth plugging the WDTV into it? Is there any Xbox One functionality that I can use? I have SKY HD but have read about the 50hz issue, so I will wait on that one. I am not in urgent need for the HDMI slot as it is a straight swap for my 360 but would love to be able to use the Xbox One to search the WDTV for films.

    Hope this makes sense.

It doesn't yet support external hard drives.

It would just pass the signal through mate but wont offer any other function other than being logged into live at the same time enabling you to recieve invites etc and could quickly swith from wdtv to games etc.
You would still need yourwdtv remote and control it as usual.
