media pc or player, what's best for me

Hi all,

Have been looking at media players as of late such as dune tv 101 and others. Was set on one but then seen this today.... WWW.hotukdeals.com/visit?m=1782&q=1084735

Is this a better option then a media player?

Most of my files are mkv 1080p with dts and what not audio.

I would want to connect it to my tv and amplifier.

I also will be gettin a harmony control if these work with such centres.

Also, most of my media is on an external hdd.

Not sure if I want a player or media pc. I like the idea of the e emachines.

Can u get it to boot straight up into xmbc rather then having to do it urself etc

There's a thread about it here:

I'd class it as more as a player really, and not a particularly cheap or good one. I imagine you'll end up binning it within 18 months (and literally binning it, as it will have no resale value)

You mention that you have a load of .mkv files. What are you using now? It appears that you have a PC with media capabilities already, but that you want the convenience of something under the TV - The WD Live is prefect for that.

At present I use the xbox as a streamer but as u prob know, its not very good at mkv playback

Also, u say the emachines will be poor, what about similar such as AsRock ION 330HT
