    As the title says really.

Ive seen a lot of conflicting evidence and information. Does anyone know for SURE if the X360 will be able to connect to any Windows file share (NT/SMB) or, will it require a Media Centre PC with some new fileshare system that is outside of SMB and NT?

    Any ideas?

    Cheers!

If its XP, it will stream audio. The 360 will only stream audio AND video via XP:MC edition.

Well that sucks then and is NOT the complete home entertainment centre Microsoft want me to use it to be.

So what about Win64 users then!? Do they intend on releasing MC for 64bit?

Looks like XBMC and the good old box's will be around in my house a lot longer than intended.

Thanks for the info though! :)

It's almost like Microsoft are asking for it to be chipped. I think (as a user of 64-bit) we are most likely to be missed out.

However, these days I find myself more about thinking of upgrading to 32-bit again... :D

Windows Vista will have built in media centre (well the ultimate edition) so it won't be too bad.

If its XP, it will stream audio, images & photo's. The Xbox 360 will only stream video via Windows XP MCE.

PS: Are you the same Danvitale that I occasionally clash heads with over at Digitalspy.co.uk Forums? If so :hiya:

Hmmm .... whats this "Windows Update" patch I hear about that maybe being made available to allow streaming to happen to a 360? Is this an official patch to allow x360 and Pro to work together? Or should it be placed on an Urban Legends site :D

Is this a definate, ie Home XP on a laptop with wireless card can connect to 360 via my WET11 wireless ethernet bridge (obviously plugged into 360) Thus pump audio and images through 360 to my amp and then images onto my PJ via component. Please tell me yes

Err I plugged it in and it err works
Seriously, I plugged my BEFW11S4 router into my Origo modem this then sends signal to my wireless laptop and also sends signal to WET11 which is wired to Xbox, hey presto I have a connection. So if info is correct above then my 360 should communicate through WET11 to my laptop I am hoping.

I know this is an old thread and the software maybe only became available since the thread was last looked at but I thought I'd post it anyway. There is Microsoft software you can run on XP home or XP pro that will allow you to stream videos to your XBOX 360. It's called Windows Media Connect.

Read my Blog post about it (links included)

There is a reason this is old mate, there are tons of threads on how to stream to your 360 and it is also covered in the FAQ's on these very forums.
