Medal of Honour: Pacific Assault is the follow-up to the classic Allied Assault... First shots here

Although it was announced back in March, only now have Electronic Arts released the first shots of Medal of Honour: Allied Assault sequel, Pacific Assault.

Like MOH: Rising Sun for PS2, Xbox and Cube, Pacific Assault will be set in World War II's Pacific theatre. It will, however, be an entirely different game to the console one and will feature a different storyline.

The game opens with a sequence that recalls the bombing of Pearl Harbour and has already been compared to the frenzied Normandy beach landing at the start of Allied Assault.

This time round though, you play as Marine Private Tom Conlin through seven single-player missions covering 25 levels and over nine new multiplayer maps, which include new locations, new weapons (including M1 carbines, M1 flamethrowers, Japanese Arisaka rifles and the Type 100 submachine gun) and new soldiers.

Players will both work alone and with the help of squad members to complete their missions. As the squad members gain more experience, they will develop their own personality and fight more efficiently. From time to time, new recruits will arrive who will need battle experience to become as proficient as the veteran members of the squad.

The game is currently pencilled in for release in October 2004.
