About a year ago McVities digestives rebranded themselves as McV. Now it seems to have reverted to the full McVities. I support that. Another case of the marketeers making money out of pointless rebranding. I read somewhere that the DTI changed names for a week and cost us £30,000. Also the Post Office / Royal Mail / Consignia debacle. I guess we paid for that too.

You can just imagine the branding consultants laughing all the way to the bank when some huge company uses their idea that probably took five minutes for some "creative" type to think up.

All biscuits are evil and should be branded "666".

They prey on the elderly . They infatuate pensioners with their crumbs.

Reminded me of this story about a consutancy having been payed £20K for spending 3 months coming up with a name for the merger of The University of Bradford and Bradford College!
    Shortlisted were
    Bradford University
    University of Bradford
    The University of Bradford :suicide:

Might be an old-wives tail but apparantly when the Newcastle polytechnic was looking for a name they considered City University of Newcastle upon Tyne. :D

( Its University of Northumbria if you are curious :) )

That one's actually true. A very good friend of mine studied engineering at the University of Northumbria, and he actually took it upon himself to ask his head of faculty whether the story was true, and said head of faculty not only confirmed the rumour, but he'd also kept some of the headed paper they'd had printed up before they realised the problem they had!! :D
