OK, So I have managed to blag a 500GB external drive and hooked it up to my MCE. Transfered all of my recorded content, changed the default recording folder to the new drive, used MCE cutomizer to change the location of the TV buffer to the new drive as well. Main hard drive now sits quietly and external drive does all the work. So far so good.

Increased the reserved area to 490GB and now have 369 hours of available recording time. So far so very good.

Went to watch live TV this evening and MCE told me that the hard drive was full and it could not let me watch live TV until I cleared out some space on the hard drive. This is with 470GB of free space on the drive!!!! Now I realise that this is because I am using the external hard drive for the TV buvver but come on! There is planty of space on the drive so what is going on? Answers on a postcard please.

What Hard-Drive formatting are you using (FAT32, NTFS etc)?

Ive had this once or twice ages ago. It may have been related to the guide from what I remember, try forcing a download of the guide.
