I've seen the one in your 1st link before and originally thought it was a rip-off, but the IR receiver looks like a genuine MS one. Could be one of the earlier, pre MCE 2005 remotes??

The second link looks like the real deal MCE 2005 remote and as I have the same, I thoroughly recommmend it.

If you want a remote that can control your whole system look for the Harmony 680.

I bought one from eBay last month from this guy. He seems to have put the postage up as I only paid £29 all in. However, it is a genuine remote and receiver OEM in a brown box. It was delivered in about 2 days IIRC.

As ive heard it has a reprogramable TV/Amp button which is nice

For less than two quid more, you could have bought the same one as mine which is the updated model of the one you have bought. You also would have got it quicker and had a remote with teletext fastkeys. I believe the one I have is programmable also but have not tried it yet.

The remotes Ebuyer sell are exactly the same as the one you paid more for on eBay.

It's more than likely an import as it doesn't have the teletext buttons (not that they're much use).

They're all programable BTW......

There not the same if u read the reviews you will see that the 4 text button ones are being sold.
ALSO THE ONES WITH TEXT BUTTONS CAN NOT BE PROGRAMMED!!
Damn it

If you can afford a HTPC you'll most likely use a proper learning remote anyway, if so you don't need the programmable one since you'll just learn the codes onto the Pronto/HTM/Harmony and put it away. I'll get the cheaper one. :) Ideally I would like just the receiver and the HEX/CCF/MXD/MXF files.

All MCE 2005 remotes (whether from eBuyer, me or anywhere else) allow the TV power and volume buttons to be reprogrammed. No other buttons are reprogrammable on any of the MS produced MCE remotes.
