Looking to buy a new system strictly for gaming and came accross this - what is Maximum PC's Dream Machine 2005... $13,000 worth of PC. (I'd do it)

Aren't the Dual Core chips better than the Opterons?

Two AMD Opteron 275's @1,350 each
    Tyan K8WE @600
    Silverstone Tj07 Case @350.
Eight 1 GB Corsair DDR400 registered modules @200 each
Two nVidia GeForce 7800 GTX @ 600 each
    Two Dell 2405FPWs monitors @ 960 each
PC Power and Cooling Turbo Cool 850 SSI @470
Five Hitachi Deskstar 7K500 500 GB drives @ 500 each
SATA Netcell Revolution RAID Controller @ 300
    Two PLextor PX-716SA's @150 each
    Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi @ 400
    Logitech Z-5500 @400
    Metadot Das Keyboard @80
    Logitech MX518 @50
Windows XP Pro and Windows XP Pro x64 edition @400

Edit: Prices all in Dollars. This is not MY dream pc, it's what Maximum PC the Magazine made their Dream PC in the September issue...

HAHA, the Z5500 are £300 RRP by logitech, your gettign ripped, you can get them for under £250, so how did oyu get £400???..

What about the raptors???, you 4 Rators in Raid 0 for windows drive and the Hitachi's in Raid 0 for a secondary drive...

Why would you want Dell's there crappy for video, that's just a joke...you would want maybe 1 SOny FW700, the 24" 16:10 CRT, but the HP variant of it in Silver, much better looking, and maybe a high end Hi-Def Plasma as your secondary display..

Two PLextor PX-716SA's ???, hahah, another Joke, plextor are not big in optical storage, go with an LG 4167..you do not need more than one...

    8GB of Ram??...ow that's a Joke....2GB is more than enough...

Opteron's?, are you crazy???, they only let you use DDR400 right?, why not just get a single CPU like an Intel Pentium D 840 Extreme Edition, or even better, the king of the Intel SIngle core CPU's the P4 EE 3.73GHZ....has better benchmarke than the Dual Core 840 EE..., any you get get some High speed DDR 2 667 memory with it..and for a motherboard just get an Intel one...they do great boards, a 955X for ATX, or why not even go for a MATX and get the 9545G...

For the case well I'd get that Lial Li Aniversery one, you know the one that looks like a Sea Shell...

While your at it get two Dual DVB-T tuners, you know them PCI-E x 1 ones from Terratec, and get a copy of WIndows MCE with the multiple tuner hack...as for the Graphics I'd get an X1800 512MB, I hate Nvidia...

I'd go for the new cooler master Stacker...

The Sea Shell one looks daft.
