You realise the UK R2 'Matrix' is cut?
I wouldn't want it if it was free.
Good price though if you don't mind the cuts

Worth getting it at £2.99 as all that's missing are a few headbutts. Unless you're a fan of commentaries that is?
I think the only extra that is missing off the UK version is the isolated score (could be completely wrong about that though!)

True, a vast majority of DVD buyers must surely already own this (or one the the countless additional alternative releases and SE's). But I reckon it's one that may have been forgotten by many. It must be what, 3 years since it was first released? and it's not like you see it on the shelves other than in sales.

What has that got to do with anything?  Wasn't saying that you shouldn't buy it, just advising those who didn't already know that it was cut.

ok calm down lex, wasn't aiming post at you. was aimed at nike, and this one is too.

fistly all i was doing was letting everyone know where they can get a great movie for an excellent price, you know seen as this is the bargain forum and not the dvd specs forum.

nike if you really care that much about extra's you need to get a life pal, find a partner, settle down and get some realistic worries.

as i really don't need to sleep next to my dvd collection every night with a gun under my pillow!!!

i personally purchase a dvd because what disc 1 has on it (the movie).

didn't have it as only recently started collecting dvd's since I had the money. Also was waiting for a 3 film boxset but doesn't look like it will happen for a while, so snapped up this bargain.

I wouldn't worry about the cuts to this film. I've had both the R2 and R4 and the nine seconds that are missing don't add anything to the continuity of the fight scenes. It's only worth going to R4 if you want the audio commentary, though I bought my R4 at the time because I hated 'snapper' cases.

    Er, Thanks - I do have a life/partner/children, etc.
I just don't support video censorship. I never mentioned extras as all I'm interested in is the best pesentation of the film - for me and many others on this forum, that means no cuts. As you are the one who has resorted to unjustified personal comments, I would suggest that it is you who is need of a 'life'.

As for Kill Bill, yes I did buy the R1, I also have the Japanese R2 though.

as someone else pointed out, matrix r2 is missing 9 seconds.

nike, you must be a complete idiot to pay an extra £10 for 9 seconds.

also what do you want 2 copies of kill bill for ?

are you really that [Edited by Mod] ? or just [Edited by Mod] ?

Durden - It's quite obvious that you are a pretentious ****. How dare you insult others, particularly a forum member near 500 posts just because he wants to own a certain cut of a film? The question must be posed of you - are you retarded? I honestly do think you may be, after eading some of your other posts.

You're obviously just here to create havoc as you have done elsewhere, so I'm sure Nike and others will support me in telling you to **** off, or keep your personal digs to yourself.

    Prick.

    Durden,

Your comments are ridiculously over the top and offensive (I have edited out the worst of them) - what the hell are you being so touchy about? Nike was simply pointing out to people that the film was cut, and you have reacted as if this was a personal assault upon your reputation.

I seriously think you owe Nike an apology...

    sorry nike.

i just couldn't understand why someone would spent 3-4 times as much on a dvd due to a few added seconds.

maybe you just have more money than i do.

suppose it's your choice at the end of the day.

    cheers.

If the apology is meant, then thanks.
Even in your last post you are assuming that you know how much I paid for my Matrix dvd though!
I think I paid about £7/8 for the R4 version over 2 years ago; At the time no dearer than the UK disc, which was not then available for £2.99.
Maybe I do have more money than you (maybe not though?). I very rarely pay more than £10 for a new dvd. Buying the R2 JP dvd of KBv1 was a rare extravagance.

One of the main reasons I find forums like this a useful resource, is the fact that information about the best version of a dvd can be found. For me this means Best presentation of the film - Picture & sound quality - Censorship issues and the best price!

No chance. The Godfather trilogy is over-rated in my opinion. Apocolaypse Now is by far his best work. Again in my opinion, The Matrix is one of the most influencial and important films of the last decade and quite possibly the last 2 decades! The narrative is so convincingly conceived and executed with such attention that it succeeds in creating a complex and believeable 'fictional world' most directors can only dream about. I'm not strictly talking about sci-fi here either as all film outside documentary is ultimately fictional. The storyline in the Matrix is as tight as Trinity's pants!

I am not saying it is perfect and I am aware of its shortcomings but there are very few movies that demand repeat viewing this side of porn :smoke:

    Enjoy

franc - if you're going to include Godfather 2 and 3 into Gorshin's opinion about Godfather then I think you open yourself up to the same being done with Matrix 2 and 3... surely they are not in the same Portugese football park as the original and merely "devalue" the Matrix name in the same way you suggest GF 2 and 3 do? Although having said that am I right in thinking that GF 2 is regarded by many people as "superior" to the original?

Personally, I prefer the R1 version of Matrix... snapper and all :)

1 week ban for each of durden-soap and valhalla for unacceptable behaviour.
I don't have The Matrix on DVD cos I worse the disc out. I'd not have the cut R2 if it were given away because of the cuts and the 4% speed-up.
And I have R1 and R2 Japanese Kill Bill.

i agree that the godfather trilogy overated, but great to watch in one sitting.

greatest trilogy of all time is star wars.

as for matrix, 1 & 2 were great but 3 was the worst ending of a trilogy ever.
