Match choice on sky sports hd?

Sky sports hd have shown the full 90 minute re-run of the game of the day at 8.30 pm on saturday evenings for a couple of season's now in hd. This season they are showing it in sd, incredibly annoying. Does anybody know why? I appreciate the later match choice programs are not shown in hd as there is a choice of several matches, but the 8.30 program is only one game. Sky offer champions league games with the option to record the main "english" game in hd and view the remaining games in sd. What's the story?

Does the programme have any studio presentation?

If it does, it may be that they are using that studio for the live US PGA golf which being in HD needs an HD studio for presentation.

For the last three years Sky have used an SD/4:3 studio for their Thu-Sat golf programmes, even though they were showing highlights of golf shown in HD earlier in the day.

Derek 500, it only has studio introduction for 5 minutes, then straight to the game. I don't understand why they have dropped the hd this season only, after 2 previous seasons in hd?
It drives me insane as you guys with hd would appreciate, a game in sd is a nightmare. I thought I had it made with sky sports hd, espn hd and itv hd gradually allowing me to watch every game in hd, now it seems, they are taking it away from us. I had made my peace with motd being sd only for now until they move to their new hd studio's in Manchester I think, but I did really enjoy the saturday night full game on sky in hd and really do find it so annoying.
I have thought of trying to get an answer from sky, but if you have ever tried to contact sky regarding anything you will understand why I have tried av forums first. I don't know if my question is strictly av material, so here's hoping it doesn't offend anyone.

That's the answer then!! Until the new studios are opened this will happen. Live sport will usually get precedent over recorded and football over other sports.

For the last couple of years HD football highlights have been given an HD studio while the golf had to settle for SD. Now Sky have live US golf, the studio gets used for that and the same set is used for the European highlights.

As a golf viewer I'm happy, as I can now see golf highlights and live stuff in 16:9/HD. But I understand your frustration in losing the HD football.

Cant ever recall football first ever been in HD.
Past seasons have been in hd, just ask my girlfriend. I used to drive her insane watching the games on saturday nights when she wanted to watch x factor and other saturday night trash, siting hd as the reason for my viewing. I agreed if they ever dropped the hd broadcast then she could have her choice of viewing. Regretting that now!

It's been HD maybe once or twice but always flagged as SD, It's almost always been SD and always has been because only live UK TV Games are are covered in HD unless the Premier League are Trialing there own HD production on a 3pm game that sky pick for game of the day.

The Premier League themselves are responsible for covering all Premier League game not covered live by a UK TV channel.
