So when we moved into our new build last summer it was soon realised that the master socket was in the bedroom. A year on I'm tempted with fibre but I'm sure the master socket cannot be moved to another so what are my options? Powerplugs?

All my kit is currently connected under the stairs (router, switch, ps4, NAS etc) and currently using a filter on one of the lounge phone sockets and an extension cable to the HH under the stairs.

Most modern homes have all sockets looped, using a spare pair of conductors to carry the line post master socket.

So, if say, lines 1 & 2 carry the master line from the main house connection, lines 3 & 4 will carry the loop to the other sockets.

Therefore, if you have fibre fitted, the engineer can simply configure any socket to be the master by changing the wiring configuration and fitting a new master socket.

Thanks NB - if I took one of the face plates off would be easy for me to spot the configuration you mention? As don't wanna order fibre until I know the options.

    Appreciate the reply!

Take off the master socket and see what wires are connected. Whip off an extension and see if the pair connected to he secondary side are connected, with the master pair cut or folded back.
