    heyhey all

just kind of curious as to why Master and Commander was up there on the screen with 3 studios behind it?

20th Century Fox, Universal and Miramax.

Are we talking a Towering Inferno here with a spliting of the budget? Surely it couldn't of been THAT expensive a film.

    Just wondering.

    Good film too

Russell Crowe was on the Jonathan Ross show on Friday
night and, if I remember correctly, he said the film cost
    $135 million.

Je Deteste this film, even though I haven't seen it - it looked dreadful from the trailers.

Lord save us if this is the kind of tripe hollywood studios are going to sink all their efforts into for the next few years.

How can you comment on a film you haven't seen? I agree that a trailers point is to sell a film, but the proof in the pudding is the 2-3 hour film which you need to watch before commenting...

I love this film, even though I haven't seen it - it looked brilliant from the trailers.

Thank the Lord if this is the kind of excellence hollywood studios are going to sink all their efforts into for the next few years. ;)

    $135 million

Thats alot of money, but surely that wouldn't need 20th century, Universal AND miramax on board would it?

I'm no movie business man, but at the very most that would take 2 studios if a single studio didn't want to cough up the full lot by themselves (even though I'm pretty sure one could).

Probably because the script was so bad that studios weren't willing to chip in the full amount.

I've seen it and I have to say its excellent. If you like Hornblower then you'll llove this.

If you want to diss something before you've seen it then thats your problem, but in my view you'll be missing out if you don't see this one in the cinema

Although I thought Master & Commander was a little long, I still thoroughly enjoyed it.

A really good film, although don't go with your wives/girlfriends as all they will do is whinge.
