My other half and I are planning a 3/4 night break in mid March in either Marrakech or Barcelona. We've not been to either city before. Any thoughts on which destination to choose? Any hotel recommendations (flexible budget but good beds and decent linen a must - I don't do roughing it any more)

    Thanks

I loved Barcelona anyway, loads to do. Stayed near Las Ramblas.

I've been to both Marrakech (December) and Barcelona (March), and have enjoyed both holidays. I particularly enjoyed visiting all the famous Gaudi buildings and parks within Barcelona, and hiring a bike and cycling around the city. Marrakech was more about lovely sunrises and sunsets for my photos, the Atlas mountains, the old city and bustling souks, and the lovely cheap food. I spent roughly 3/4 days for each trip and found it enough to see what I wanted.

Both sound wonderful. Think we will probably opt for Barcelona this year (maybe Marrakech next year ).

Anyone got some must see, must do, must eat at suggestions. Trying to decide where to stay now. Always hard when you don't know a city and therefore don't know where you need to be.

Lots to see (can't remember much of it though!). We just ended up walking around and popping into coffee shops and tapas bars...all were pretty excellent :)
Wander down to the marina, very nice down there and Las Ramblas. And of course you have to go and see Gaudi's Cathedral :smashin:
