When showing an DVD last night, a strange thing just happend with my PJ in the middle of the movie, the PJ suddenly reset itself to factory default settings.

The problem is that vertical alignments are not working :-(
It is only possible to converge horizontally, and in geometry the h-pin can be adjusted, but the v-pin does not work. In indicator windows the 0-100 does not show any change in picture :-(
The status light on the back of the PJ are green=ok.

I have swapped the boards between the tubes (under the alu-cover). This did not resolve the problem.

I can converge v+h in the first converging box in center of the image when starting conv.., on all other fields it is only possible to converge horizontaly
Any vertical alignment on picture are not possible.

I'm not big on E'homes but I think they basic cotrol areas are laid out pretty much the same as Barco. I think your convergence board has gone.
The fact you can raster shift the central area but not convergence seems to pint to this. Often some of the geometry controls are on the convergence board.

    Sorry I can't help more.

Top Electrohome tech is in Salisbury. Phone Christie in Reading and ask for the name of the new VDC technician. He'll be able to help you out.

Worked many hours today on this...

Dismounted the PJ to get out the vertical and convergence board. Checked them carefully for possible damage on the resistors or any bad soldering. The boards seem to be in good visual condition. Removed the jumpers on the convergence board and did an cleaning on the pins with 100% pure isoprophyl and then reinserted the jumpers, then cleaned the connectors the cables was attached to.
After carefully assembly work I connected the power cord, and pressed the power button on the remote: The PJ will not power up anymore :(
The red error lights up LVPS failure!

Could this indicate broken vertical board?

I guess I can borrow some parts from my friend who also has an 8500 PJ, but witch board should I try out first?

Removed P14 and disconnected all cables from V+conv boards at the back, and the flat cables that was connected to the mainboard. Reinserted and checked all connectors and then powered up the PJ. The LVPS error light are now gone ok (attached the P14), but the PJ shut down again after 8-10 seconds! There are no error led showing when it runs this few seconds...

Could it be any kind of short on one of the resistors? I have checked all solder and resistors but cannot see any visual defects.

    Suggestions please?

Checked the flat ribbon cables that is connected from v-board and conv- board. The cables are identical so I did an switch and used the cable that was connected from conv-board on to the v-board. The PJ still switching of after seconds...

To confirm that it is the v-board that is broken, I will borrow this board from another 8500 maybe tomorrow.

How much did a new v-board cost? Who can trade me one?

We got the "Lord of the Rings" DVD in the mail today....sigh

After changing the Focus/Geometry board (the one between Red and Green tube) the PJ are now ok again. Tested with 3hour of "Lord of the Rings" and I'm again blessed with perfect PQ

What can now be done with my own defective board?
Anyone that can fix this for me?

Thank you for the positive feedback Baggy!

The screen are 105inc diagonal. I have painted the screen with matte white interior paint, and will later paint it with screen paint from ScreenGoo.

Sorry but no spares I'm afraid.
Let us know how you get on with the screengoo.
What type of surface do you intend painting it on?

As I already have painted my screen with interior, I will use CRT primer from screengoo and then use CRT low-gain white.

My screen are made of stucco plate, onto 2x4" frame. Ratio 16:9 (230cm x 126cm).
