If there are two things that I love seeing at the moment then they are

    - the orange adverts just before the movie starts in the cinema, Princess Leia & Fredo are my fav to date although the new Darth Vader is kinda cool

    - the Golf GTI advert / remake of singing in the rain

what fantastic minds and imagination the people behind these adverts must have.

    Anyone have anymore?

Got to be the Citroen C4 advert with the car turning, transformers like, into a robot.

Car manufacturers do rely on creative TV advertising which probably started with Fiat and their very clever advert 25 years ago to promote the very ordinary Strada. I'm sure that most of those of a "certain age" will remember Tom Baker's immortal "Hand built by robots" line to the sight of Fiat Strada's racing round the track to the stirring music of The Barber of Seville.

More recently Papa & Nicole were said to have been responsible for the sale of as many Clio's as the stupid nerd in the beard character lost for the Vauxhall Zafira.

Thanks to Tivo I don't watch the ads any more but my 5 year old son does rather like the Citroen ad with the car changing into a dancing robot.

I like the car ads themselves so much that I find I rarely remember which manufacturer they were for - not sure if that's what the producers have in mind. I did particuraly like the Honda (I think :) ) one, with the 'domino effect' of all the car parts.

Other than that it's got to be the Guinness over the years. Pure class (the ads and the product)

Its really annoying how advertisers rip off ideas they see in short films ( the domino honda one for example). If you ever go to a short film festival you'll be gobsmacked at the blatent rip offs you'll see in adverts 6 months later ( the domino one is longer ).

Sometimes they will commission the original film maker to make the ad ...more often than not they rip them off and don't even acknowledge them.

The other one is that blue dragon one which rips off a very elaborate traditional 3d animation called willow pattern except they now do it with CG 3D instead which kinda defeatst he whole artistry of the original.

Then they'll all swan off to the groucho club and tell each other how creative they are...absolute plonkers

There are some really good car ads around, love the singing in the rain, robot and honda domino ones. Larger/beer ads have also been good - Carling, Budweiser, Boddingtons, Heineken, Guiness, Holsten Pils. Personal favourite in that category though has to be John Smiths - top bombing :D

I like different ads for different reasons though. Some because they're funny, others have good music, others are just classy.

Best classic one though? Got to be Leonard Rossiter and Joan Collins in the Cinzano ads. They were pure genius

Another vote for the Golf GTI "Singing in the Rain" advert.
The remix (by Mint Royal) is getting airplay now so I wonder if it will get released.

I like the car advert that has it transforming in to a robot and dancing around the place. Looks like it could even be an early test for the big screen transformers the movie, which acording to the latest Empire magazine will be directed by Michael, explode and crash everything in site, Bay. :)
