I have a mark on the lense of my Canon g3, and I suspect that it has been caused by using the wide angle lens adaptor,..I have tried cleaning it, and also rubbing the mark vigorously with a cotton bud with lens fluid on it, all to no avail, I dont think that it is a scratch.

any ideas, would be greatly appreciated. see attached picture.

Does it show up on your photos? If not then i'd leave it alone - you could damage the coating on the lens by cleaning too vigorously.

It doesnt show on the photo's but I know that it is there, I was hoping that it could be polished of buffed by an optician or something like that :(
It looks like a little purpelish cloud.

It looks like an area of the protective coating has been damaged. As Tomson says you are best leaving it alone as no ammount of cleaning will get rid of it. The same thing happens to computer monitors.

yeah in all seriousness, if the problem is not visible in the actual photos then just try and forget about it. I know its annoying, but it doesnt really matter if its cosmetic.

other than that you could get an opinion at a camera repair shop and see what they say

so like me, would you be considering the G6 ? nearly gets brilliant reviews. The other Im interested in is the Panasonic fz-20. Looks nice piece of kit with very handy long zoom

thanks mylo, can you tell I got him out of a packet of cheerios, I thought he looked pretty cool holding my toast up, at breakfast.:)

Geordie Jester, I like the G6, but I think I really fancy the 300d, especially after seeing some example shots,..I like all of the panasonics that have the leica lenses, but its going to be the 300d, I'm writing my letter to Santa straight after tea.
