Brand new Mario Tennis game coming to Switch in 2018.

Mario Tennis Aces Reveal Trailer (Switch -...

The N64 game was fantastic, the sequels got progressively worse. I really hope Nintendo get rid of the fat and give us a solid Tennis game first, with any gimmicks given their own mini-games. Story mode looks pretty cool though, that was fun on the Game Boy title.

Best thing to come from todays Direct Mini for me. It’s been a long time since we had a new tennis game on console.

Will get this once more news surfaces most likely. Intrigued to see what depth it may have...same as if they announce a Mario Golf. Needs enough content to justify the purchase for me.

I have to agree with @Daft Ada that the best version was on Nintendo 64 and whilst I enjoyed the GameCube version too, I felt it went a little too gimmicky. I love these tennis games but if the latest one is gimmicky heavy, I will probably give it a miss. Fwiw, my all time fav Tennis Game was on Dreamcast - Virtua Tennis - brilliant game :)

Absolutely can't wait for this game! Hope it's more based on pure tennis like the N64 game. I loved the N64 and GC versions but fell off after that. Totally agree with the last poster re. Dreamcast Virtual tennis - I have it set up permanently

I'll definitely be getting this - it was my surprise highlight of the announcement.
I played the N64 version non-stop until winning every tournament with every character in single and doubles. I've enjoyed Top Spin on the 360 but it felt more of a grind than the constant fun on Mario Tennis.

I think it will be gimmick heavy. I'm not fussed. My main priority is a decent story mode.

I realised I hadn’t purchased this on the Wii U so I bought a new copy for £15, quite enjoyed 30 mins play, still looks very nice, before most likely confining it to my pile of unplayed Wii U stuff.

That's one of the few good things about the game - it really is very pretty.

Me and my sister still fire up Smash Tennis on the SNES every now and then. This will have to be pretty special to beat that game!

I'll be getting this as I enjoy a good old tennis game.

The classic is Virtual Tennis as mentioned earlier on DC.

Ah loved that game. My mate still has my copy for his SNES. Knocking people off the mountain was always a laugh and the indoor echo on the indoor sports hall still seems impressive today... in my memory at least. It was proper tough against the computer though.

One of my favourites is Konami's Ping pong arcade game from 1985 - it's so basic but has incredible gameplay. I did a search for cabinets a while ago but I've never been able to find even a photo of one. Apparently they're very rare & are part of an interchangeable arcade cab range.

It was ported to lots of systems - I had it on the Spectrum back in the day. We all thought it was fantastic back then, but it's no where near as good as the arcade version..

That was my first thought. Pretty sure there was a zip slide early in the first level and I couldn’t even get past that!

I had the nes version as well "Rush N Attack" I think on both versions I could only get past level 1.

Just watched a bit of walkthrough and I was thinking of different game when said Green Beret.... but I do remember it nevertheless. Now though I’m trying to think what the other game was!

Are we talking from the same era? Bionic commando had a couple of levels that were similar.

Same era but not Bionic Commando, that was awesome but a tad easier. Pretty sure it was a side scrolling C64 game. Just remember a zip wire. lol

I want to get MK8, Splatoon and Mario Oddessy and now this!

I am loving the Switch though think might be my fave console to date
