Marcella Season 2 – Filming Begins, Story Details Revealed
The eight-part series is once again set in contemporary London and the new series unfolds in the unique style of Rosenfeldt’s Nordic style. Interweaving storylines and characters from all different walks of life and backgrounds will lead the audiences on a complex and emotional journey and keep them guessing until the very end.

The story begins with the discovery of a body inside a wall. The body is surrounded by toys and soft animals and a school blazer; a devastated Marcella soon works out that the body is that of schoolboy Leo Priestley, who was abducted a few years beforehand and a friend of Marcella’s son, Edward

Returning alongside Anna Friel as the lead Marcella, in the highly praised drama are Ray Panthaki (One Crazy Thing), Nicholas Pinnock (Fortitude, Guerrilla), Jamie Bamber (Fearless, NCIS) and Jack Doolan (White Gold). New cast members are also welcomed; Nigel Planer (Episodes, Comic Strip Presents, The Young Ones), Keith Allen (Eddie The Eagle, My Mad Fat Diary), Sophia Brown (Beauty & The Beast, Clique, Disobedience), Peter Sullivan (Cuffs, Critical, The Borgias), Jason Hughes (Three Girls, Midsomer Murders), Victoria Smurfit (Once Upon A Time, Trial & Retribution, The Beach), Yolanda Kettle (The Crown, Love Nina), Josh Herdman (Harry Potter) and Harriet Cains (Line of Duty, Safe House)

What the fudge?!

Story concluded in the first 30ish minutes (with loads of unanswered questions that will be left answered, like last series). Then it jumps the shark.

Utter bollocks with that minimalistic 5 second descent into hypnosis - 5, 4, 3, 2, 1

Also hard to take seriously with her comedy walk ... bit of a Papa Lazarou style strut if I'm not mistaken?

I thought it was brilliant, was utterly gripped all the way.

Yes, the current storyline was wrapped up halfway through, but the last half hour was really interesting and explained a lot.

Intriguing last scene too.

Even after reading the writer's explanation, that was still an awful finale. Way too many red herring storylines that were never wrapped up. I'm just not buying the way she goes at all.

They even admitted the DNA swap wasn't planned to be used like this back in series one, so I'm doubtful they'll clear these unfinished stories, satisfactorily, in the next series

Yep ...
Keith Allan seems to have got away with the murder of Nigel Planer and rape of a minor; that couple trying to raise money for IVF treatment were completely surplus to requirements, that red herring paedophile was a waste of two or three episodes; her selfish kids and nasty ex-husband were just too much; seemed to be something dodgy about the manager of that care home but it never went anywhere

A truly annoying character that deserved impaling.

Hugo Speer & Amanda Burton Join ITV's 'Marcella' For Season 3 - TVWise
Hugo Speer plays Marcella’s undercover handler Frank Young; while Amanda Burton has been cast as Katherine, the matriarch of the Maguire family. They join returning cast members Anna Friel (Broken, American Odyssey) and Ray Panthaki (Colette, One Crazy Thing). Rounding out the cast is Aaron McCusker (Bohemian Rhapsody, Fortitude, Shameless), Kelly Gough (The Fall, Broadchurch),Martin McCann (Death & Nightingales, The Frankenstein Chronicles), Eugene O’Hare (The Fall, Death & Nightingales), Michael Colgan (X Company, My Mother and Other Strangers), Paul Kennedy (Death & Nightingales, No Offence) and Glen Wallace (River City, The Secret).

“Following on from the dramatic conclusion of the previous series, the new eight-parter sees Marcella in Belfast as an undercover detective. She has taken on a new identity, Keira, and has infiltrated the infamous Maguire crime family but as she investigates their activities, questions come to the fore about how much she’s embraced the Keira personality and left Marcella behind.

In true Marcella style, the series has interweaving storylines with strands focusing upon the Maguires’ criminal operations. As she inhabits the character of Keira, Marcella’s quest for the truth puts her in danger and others in harm’s way. Her undercover role makes her take risks, but will her old life eventually catch up with her?”

Confirmed as returning alongside Anna Friel is Ray Panthaki, who plays Marcella’s collegue Detective Inspector Rav Sangha. Last seen being knocked unconscious by the woman herself wielding the lid of a toilet cistern, we can expect Rav to wake up with more than a few questions for our lead.

And remember the glimpse we saw of The Musketeers’ Hugo Speer in the series two finale playing Frank Young, the man who recruited Marcella to his undercover detective unit? Speer is back with a major role in the new series. He’s joined by Silent Witness’ Amanda Burton playing Katherine Maguire, matriarch of the Belfast crime family Marcella infiltrates as part of her investigation.

Also in the cast are: Aaron McCusker, Kelly Gough, Martin McCann, Eugene O’Hare, Michael Colgan, Paul Kennedy and Glen Wallace

I fear that I'd need to eat a 12 pack of mini cheddars to feel enough self-loathing for me to be drawn to a turd series.

season 3 episode 1, decent

Has it gone sci-fi now? Does she have cyber implants and her own time ship?
already final season, why the sudden need to go sci-fi now ? Just the normal norm but watchable

Cannot find Season 3 on Netflix, is this only on ITV now?
