I'm getting really confused by these new amplifers. I have ordered a 5200 which is 6.1 compatable. I have just seen a review in What Hifi which says that it will only do Matrixed 6.1 NOT discrete 6.1, Is this correct? Looking on the Marantz web site didn't help, they discribe the 5200, 6200 and 7200 as being DTS ES compatible. But not telling you if that includes Discrete 6.1

    Any info greatly received.

I would guess that it will decode DTS discrete but will not advertise the fact so as not to have to pay royalties which was the case with the Sony 1070.

If anyone would care to lend me a suitable disc I would be more than happy to test the theory !!!

Discrete is a fully independant full bandwidth signal.Matrix is (very loosley) the sum of two channels and restricted frequency.
A full technical comparison is beyond my limited knowleage :)
