Marantz vp-7200, is it any nice?

    Looking at the feature set (especially contrast ratio) I would say don't touch this with a barge pole.

    For a 1000 pounds or less, you should be able to get either:-
    1/ Sanyo Z1
    2/ Infocus X1 (or equiv)
    3/ Panasonic AE200

    All will give you a much better image.
