Marantz SR9600 - Speaker Recommendations

Hi,

I'm now the proud owner of a Marantz SR9600, which i've paired with a DV9500 and PDP435XDE.

However, i've just got my old set of speakers with it, as i'm considering the FPM range from B&W. One of my main criteria is for wall mounted or in wall speakers, as I need to save space.

Any recommendations of the B&W or alternative?

Cheers

I'm not suprised you need to save space with the beast of Marantz SR9600 lurking in your room, as its prettty much almost flagship amp it should be able to power pretty much any speakers you care to throw at it.

Remember that marantz has a more warm musical sound so can be used to get those 'bright' metal based speakers under control, but speakers know to be more layed back may not suit it that well as it may sound lathargic.

B&Ws should go very well with the marantz though, being more of a middly speaker (not to bright or warm) and as I said you should have no problem powering most speakers as marantz also have very good current delivery (historicaly anyway) which is what the more hungrey spakers want.

Kef also do inwall and in ceiling speakers too, worth a look.

Corazons, any chance of a brief review and if possible apicture of this huge amplifier. I have an upgraded 9200 which is equivalent to the 9300 and i am seriously considering upgrade.
By the way i use my amp with Kef Q speakers and they sound fabulous.
Thanks

Thanks for the advice, I shall be looking at the KEF in wall/ceiling too, although as you said the B&W have a nice middle ground, although I wasn't aware that Marantz were particularly soft. Mind you, not that I had a test of the 9600, the first one came in and I had it before it had been unpacked.....I may be demoing to my local supplier soon! :D

I will give a review when I've paired the full set of existing speakers, then when i've got my final set.....both the DVD and Amp are good looking kit, so I will be doing something custom built so both of these beauties can be on display when needed (tastefully done of course :smashin: ).

My suggestion for our 9600 is to use neutral sounding speakers like KEF (mine are Reference 203"s, 201's and 205).
I tried B&W too, but they complemented the Marantz' sound by appearing overly warm - fat even.
