    Hi friends,
Just had my new toy in, in lovely gold color.
Man, this thing is HEAVY !
Hooked it up, sound is very good as expected: it is warm and mellow, still for the first time when playing the Björk DVD-Audio in 5.1 I could understand every word, and the sound really engulfed me.
But if you want the sound to be "in yer face" and splattering and overly crisp this is not the receiver for you!
Next weekend I'll play some movies (neighbour's out I think), and also try the sound-over-hdmi input, because stupidly enough my matching DV-9500 has no i-link output!
Also some heavy Mahler sacd's are on the list...
    Will keep you posted.

sounds promising. I am aiming for this receiver to pair it with the dv9500.
Any chance of some pictures and please tell me whether you can play sacd via hdmi using the 9500 ?Did you import the receiver and if you don't mind how much did it cost you ?
The hong kong guys were asking me for £1800, but then there is customs and VAT!!

    Thanks

That's a VERY good price for the SR9600, I paid 3669 USD for the gold one, not really much cheaper than in Europe, but I wanted the gold variety.
Sure your GBP price was for the SR9600 ?
Will try the hdmi sound input over the weekend, but I doubt whether it will transport multichannel - yet.
If I remember correctly I paid 1269 USD for my DV9500, thát was a good price indeed I believe.

yes, the price of £1800 was for a gold version sr9600, but then customs will charge me another £400 ,so the price was very close to UK price, not to mention when you purchas e overseas marantz only gives you one year warranty!!

Tried 5.1 over hdmi, not a peep.
Suppose my DV9500 is not hdmi 1.1.

No, dv9500 is hdmi 1.1 compliant and is able to transfer both audio and video via hdmi.

When i connect the 9500 to the tv i get sound.
Some HDMI cables transmit picture only only, they call them HDMI-P cables.
Have you got one of these cables ? if not check your receiver settings
