I have a home cinema setup in my living room, utilising a Marantz Sr7007 - which has a zone 2 option that I'd like to use to listen to the same source/ an alternative source in my kitchen.

So - I have 2 options open to me.

1:Install another set of speakers in my kitchen and then cable them under my floor to the amp. (approximately 10 metres away).

    Or
2: Run rca phono leads from the Marantz amp to the auxilary input of my existing Denon RCD M38 DAB / Tannoy speaker setup (already in the kitchen - and used by my partner just for the dab radio).

So any advice would be very welcome re which option would sound better?

I guess using 10m phono leads may well degrade sound levels significantly?

Check what sources can be played on the Zone 2 of the Marantz as well. Often zone 2 is limited to analogue inputs into the amp only. So you often can not play any source connected to the amp via optical, coaxial or HDMI on the 2nd zone.

Sources - which Sources are you looking to share with the kitchen?

Sound isolation - if you can hear Zone 1 from the kitchen you will need to ensure the Zones stay in perfect Sync when playing a common Source, otherwise you'll hear everything slightly delayed from one or other Zone!

Are you sure the amp will play digital inputs on the zone 2 speaker outputs? Most do not.

Pg131 of the SR7007 Manual - 'The HDMI audio signals for the input source selected in ZONE2 are not output from the ZONE2 speakers'.

You will require an analogue (2 RCA) Input from each Source you wish to listen to via the Zone 2 Loudspeaker Outputs of the AVR.

That then means each Source must be capable of dual audio Output - 5.1/7.1 via HDMI for Zone 1 plus Stereo audio via 2RCA for Zone 2.
