      Hi all,

Having a bit of a choice dilemma at the moment....

      My current setup:

      Monitor Audio BX6's
      Monitor Audio FX rears
      BK Elec XXLS400 Sub
      Yamaha RX-V673 Receiver

The main issue is that I have a PS4 Pro and Nvidia Shield box and the receiver can't do 4K60Hz, So i have different cables going around the place. I've also been somewhat disappointed by the sound, having to really crank it up to make it sound good.

Marantz have just launched the 6013 which means the deals on the 6012 seem alright right now (£750)? The question is, will the 6012 be a worthy upgrade? Do you think i will notice any difference? Need a bit of convincing to push that buy button!

      Thanks

I can't compare it with your Yamaha but I can very highly recommend the Marantz, especially if you're bothered about music, if music isn't a use for it I might suggest a Devon instead, they're very similar but an equivalent Denon is often a bit cheaper.

Thanks for the reply Jamie. I'm very interested in music yes, although my source is usually Spotify from my Nvidia shield box if that matters. Whenever ive tested flac, i dont seem to be able to tell the difference.

In that case yes I'd say you'll like the Marantz.
No need for the Shield for Spotify as the Marantz has it built in (and HEOS if you want to add a speaker or compatible streamer in another room)

Update on this. I actually went and purchased the SR7012, as I preferred the front display on it.

After a few days of listening I can say the difference is huge! In every way basically, it sounds just as I was hoping.

The soundstage is so much bigger now, and it's actually engaging my rear speakers where as before they were hardly doing anything. But it's not just that, everything has been improved now over the old receiver.

I should have purchase one a long time ago!

Avoid Marantz if you want to use pre-out . Yamaha Aventage IMO is best buy ,I prefer it to Arcam 390

You may be finding that Audyssey is a better EQ system that the Yamahas as well. Enjoy your new purchase.

Yes that's one of the reasons for the purchase :)

So far so good, but i think i probably need to have a bit of a play with the EQ app a bit more.

Strangely L/R Bypass seems to have a lot, lot more bass and potentially sounds better, but sitll having a play around.
