Hi guys been folowing on off for ages this forum.

Was wondering your opinions on the Marantz SR5400 and its availability.

I will be pairing it with the Kef 2002 Mk2's.

    Thanks in advance.

I don't think anyone here can give an opinion, as the amp. isn't out yet!

I have the Marantz SR4400 paired with Kef 2005.2's replacing a Sony ST930 and so far I find the Marantz a lot more less fatiguing than the Sony in terms of sibilance and musicality. It has loads of power, was very easy to setup, more digital inputs, and less of the useless DSP modes found on most AV receivers. Only Problem is the remote, that like most AV remotes has loads of small dark buttons. Had a couple of queries which Marantz tech dept answered by calling me back promptly. Would have no hesitaion recommending Marantz.
    Hope this helps

Is there any sound delays on the latest batch of Marantz?
Do you get any delay when switching chapters etc before the sound kicks in?

Why, Rick. Were there delays on previous models? And can you describe how bad they were, if so? Cheers.

I saw both the SR5400 and SR4400 in Sevenoaks Bristol last weekend.

I have a 5300, and there is a slight delay of about 0.5 secs when you first press play on a source (CD or DVD, or changing a channel on Sky). Not really a problem - the only time it bugs me is in a DVD menu, as there are usually quite a lot of short sound-effects that you miss when you navigate through the menu.

Would be interested to see if the x400s have addressed this.

On my SR4400 ther does not seem to be any sound delays after changing chapters etc. However if you give me specific examples I will test mine more thoroughly and post results
