I have a Marantz SR4200 and have noticed a low level hum coming from the amp. It is also accompanied by a slight vibration of the unit. My first thoughts are a problem with the transformer, or maybe an earth problem. I have checked the power lead from the amp, and the amp only has 2 prongs for power transfer.

Am I right in thinking that this is missing the earth?

Is there anthing I can do to stop this hum and vibration?

    Thanks,

    Crisp

The unit does not use an earth as it is double insulated. Transformers do buzz and as long as you cannot hear the noise from your listening position i wouldnt worry to be honest. If I put my ear against my SR4200 I can hear a low level humming/buzzing noise, this is normal.
