I've lost my rc5200, so forced to buy a new remote. As both of these can be had for around £50, could anyone who has had both care to share their expericences, or are they leagues apart wrt functionality.

    Many thanks

I have a marantz RC1200 predecessor to the 1400 and a H655 the H655 is so much better than the 1200, 1200 is very limited macro wise never worked properly commands are arkward the 655 is a dream, it wont do what the 5200 can but it can things the 5200 cant, like flip from watching TV to watching a DVD and back invoking every bit of kit, amps displays sources etc as required!!!! in one button press per activity!

The 1400 is a long way ahead of the 1200 (I've got a 1400 and one of my mates has a 1200) and they are excellent remotes if a little quirky in some respects. I do gather from some of hornydragon's other posts that in many ways they aren't quite up with the functionality of some of the Harmony offerings. :)

Many thanks, looks like I'm about to become another Harmony user. Can't resist at the new price, although the 1400 is a bit easier on the eye IMO

the 1200 and 1400 looks like a proper remote, the harmony H655 looks like a new sky remote, but the 680 and 885 look like proper remotes and the with the coulor screen and dock for the 885 i think marantz, home theatre master etc will have a real fight in the sub £200 remote category
