Marantz PM42 ??

    Does anybody know anything about this integrated amplifer? It is a strict amplifier only (no tuner, processor, etc)

    All I can find out about it is that it was circa 1992, and has the banana speaker connections, multiple line levels, and the "direct source input" function to override all the tone controls.

    Its a black faced unit and still doesn't look too old fashioned. How would it compare with something released today? Is the quality as good as things produced today for music reproduction?

    Any comments in general terms how was the Marantz gear produced early 90's? Were they using quality components then or was it an era of "start building them cheaper" to compete a bit more on price with the other competitiors of the time?
