Chaps,

I had a few issues setting this up and with the help of another forum member managed to get sound and vision. Great news..

However now it's up and working via ARC the unit display reads TV AUDIO then SUR TV .

when I press the setup button it changes to AUDIO.

if I press enter it reads SUR PARMETER ..

but nothing comes up on the screen.? The manual says 'just press setup to get the on screen menu' .. but nothing about if that doesn't happen..

Has anyone got any idea's what I'm doing wrong?

TIA

To see the menus you need to change the TV to the input the amp is connected to to see them.

When selecting TV audio as the input for the receiver, will will not see the setup menu, as no video signal is passing through the receiver, you need to select an input that is going through the receiver to the TV eg, sat/cbl as I understand it.

connected a spare tv direct to the unit and the menu came up so there is a conflict between the tv and unit..?

You do not need another TV. Simply select another source as opposed to the TV source when you turn the AV receiver on. The reason you are not getting the menus or the AV receiver's onscreen graphics is because the AV receiver is set to the TV source so it will be using ARC. If using ARC then the AV receiver doesn't output anything to the TV and only looks for audio sourced via ARC.

The TV ARC source is audio only, hence why there's no AV menus are graphics while set to this source.

Simply press any of the other source buttons apart from TV on the remote and you should then be able to readilly access and see the menus on any HDMI connected TV.

You can if you want prevent the AVR powering up and setting itself to the TV/ARC source by going into its HDMI confurations and setting the TV AUDIO SWITCHNG setting to OFF. You would then need to manually select the TV source if ever actually wanting to source the audio via the TV and ARC. The AVR should power up set to the source you last used prior to putting it into standby if you turn the TV AUTO SWITCHING option off.

^ Thanks, I stall try to digest the information and give it a go. At this stage I can't say I fully understand everything you wrote^
I did manage to set up via the spare TV but that is going to the garage so it will be a PITA if I need/want to adjust again.

The TV has no influence upon the AV receiver's calibration. You can change the TV withoput having to reset or recalibrate an AV receiver.

The only think preventing you from accessing the menus is the fact that the AV receiver is powering up set to the ARC audio source. SElect another source and you should get the menus.

The fact you are not getting this behaviour using an older second TV is more than likely due to that TV not having ARC or ARC not being enabled on it.

Conventional ARC is dependant upon HDMI CEC. It is HDMI CEC that is responsible for the AV receiver automatically settibng itself o the ARC on power up.

You've been told several times now that you will not get any menus or graphics output to the TV from your AVR while the AVR is set to its AUDIO only ARC TV source. Simply select another source using the AVR's remote and then invoke the settings menu.

Turn both the TV and the AV receiver on. Press CB:SAT on the AVR's remote. The AV will now output menus to the TV if and when you invoke them.

Think of it this way, the on screen menus are generated by the receiver, so the video signal needs to pass through it to get to the TV. ARC is just audio from the TV, no video therefore no menu.
You'd need to select another input (TV Box), something which carries video from an external source to the TV to see the menu.
