i'm planning to build up some audio system
first, i would like to buy b&w 685 speakers, but later i'm planning to extend them
question is, which av receiver would you recommend
mostly for listening music [classical, pop], some home theater
    my options are:
    marantz sr5001
    denon avr-1908
    hk avr 245
    [maybe some other?]
which one suits best to b&w speakers?
which one has the best stereo output?
i don't really care about hdmi inputs, will have ps3 video output connected directly to the tv and audio optical to the receiver
    advantages/disadvantages?
    thanks

If you eventually decide to go for the Marantz, I recommend that you take a look on the new model (SR5002). It features 7.1 channel PCM decoding via HDMI so it's definitely better for the new HD audio formats. And in terms of audio quality, I think that Marantz and H/K are the best.

I have got the inferior (and older) SR4001 model and I just can't figure anything wrong with it. Actually, I think it's one of the best products I've ever bought

If you're not going for the 5002 why not just go for the SR4001 as the only difference I can see between the 4001 and 5001 is 10w extra per channel and 1 more optical input. It might do multi-room from a diiferent source but I don't know. Collusion is right when he states it may be one of the best products he ever bought because I agree. Certainly at the price, I got mine just over a year ago for £245 and have no intention on changing it for a long time yet?
