    Dear Av fans,

Title says it all! Can anyone advice about advantages over one of the two slimline receivers

    Yamaha RX-S601 vs Marantz NR1508

I could buy the Marantz in new condition for 300 euros and the Yamaha in used like new 320 euros (new one costs 470 euros)

    Thanks for the answers

Please advice me for potential speakers if anyone have bought any of these.

    Thanks in advance!!

Why would you buy the much older Marantz 1508 when you could buy the newer 1608 for similar money? The latter model offers better functionality.

The Marantz advantage is that you can add additional amplification, such as their MM7025.

The 1608 isn't a newer model, simply the model above the NR1508. The NR1608 is a higher specified receiver with a higher price. The only thing you'd really gain with the NR1608 is the fact it is a 7 channel receiver with Atmos and DTS:X decoding as opposed to just the 5 channels associated with the NR1508.

Thank u for your answers. I think I ll go for marantz due to price, as I don’t see any clear advantage of Yamaha.
