I ordered two boards from the latest Maplin supplement. I have just been told that the prices were wrong and they have discontued them anyway. So I can't have what I ordered. One board, advertised for £20 was £229 and the other (also £20) was over £100.

Is this legally and ethically okay? Anyone any ideas.

Legally, companies selling products or services must not deliberately mislead consumers regarding the pricing of their products or services. This is stated under Section 20 of the Consumer Protection Act 1987.

So does the consumer have the burden of proving that Maplins deliberately misprinted the price?
Or do Maplins have to prove that they made a mistake?
From £20 to over 200 seems pretty obviously like a mistake to me.

I'd imagine that Maplin's would blame the printers for the error....

Probably. We printers always get the blame
Customers never spot mistakes on their proof copies but once the final product is finished they're on the phone in a flash.

But I am terrible at proof reading. I normally miss everything. All I wanted was two computer boards....
