Finished this over Christmas and thought it was pretty good. Anybody else seen it? A story about the hunt for the Unabomber that is divided between a cat-and-mouse hunt and the development of a new style of forensic investigation. Sam Worthington plays Jim Fitzgerald a freshly minted FBI agent who is passionate about his skillset (comparative linguistics) but whose idealism and inexperience see him make a number of rookie mistakes that upset his bosses (like Holden Ford in Mindhunter). Also co-stars Paul Bettany, Chris Noth, Lily Collins and Mark Duplass.

Directed by Greg Yaitanes who made the excellent Quarry last year.

A thoughtful drama rather than an action-packed thriller Yaitanes and his writing team manage to draw nice parallels between the Unabomber and the protagonists, and they touch on the themes covered by the Unabomber's manifesto in a subtle but thought-provoking manner.

Yeah, I watched it - very good!

My daughter recommended it to me.

I found the chopping and changing backwards and forwards between 1995 and 1997 confusing though.

Yeah I felt a little confused towards the end of the series due to what you've pointed out. That could have been done a little better. There wasn't always a clear delineation between those two time periods if you missed the graphic telling you so. It's not like there's an obvious difference in technology or fashions between 95 and 97! Could have given Fitzy a beard or something to let us know which one we're seeing!

Yes, and even if you did see the banner it was still confusing if they didn’t show Ted in the different timeline locations (sorry for being a bit cryptic as I don’t want to give too much away to those who haven’t watched it).

Loved it, Shame it's over as i would love to know what happens after the last scene as Fitz looked a bit unstable, I hope they do more series like these based on true stories as it's very interesting

Watched it over Christmas too. I think I enjoyed this more than the more high profiled Mindhunter.

What makes him an effective antagonist is that he isn't merely a violent nutter espousing crank warnings and forecasts concerning technology and its relationship to our civilization. Not that that justifies his violence against anybody whatsoever, but he definitely raises points worth considering. I reread parts of his treatise against our overreliance on technology and the price society pays for being so and think that some of his warnings have merit. Here's a pretty comprehensive article that examines his life and work.

Excellent show on par with Mindhunter in my opinion. The methods that were used to track down and identify Ted Kazynski were particularly interesting to learn about . Some solid performances by Sam Worthington and Paul Bettany also. Something that wasn't mentioned about Kazynski in the show is that he's also a suspect in the 1982 Tylenol killings where 7 people died after the Tylenol pain medication was laced with cyanide before being replaced onto store shelves. Some people believe him to be a credible Zodiac Killer also although he has officially been ruled out.

Four episodes in and I have to say I’m really enjoying this show, would definitely recommend to anyone who watched Mindhunter or similar shows.

It's terrific imo. Love the way the men are all douches - especially the heroic ones.

Random Netflix recommendation from our Vodafone Account Manager.

Two episodes in and really enjoying this so far, I liked Mindhunter but the missus never really got into it so it's still on the list to watch.
