Spent the last two weeks in Malta, hence why i've been quiet on here. I was originally intending to take the D810 along with a 20 f1.8, 28 f2, 50 f1.2 and the 80-200 f2.8 along with one film camera. Due to hand luggage limits of 5kg, I ended up sacrificing most of the kit and taking just the 20, 55 macro and the 80-200mm f2.8. (and even then I was over the allowance) I seemed quite restrained as I only took just over 1900 photos across the whole two weeks.

I'll try and keep things in order of locality.

Valletta. On the bus from Melleiha which was ~20Km away, it takes around an hour minimum to get there and on a bad day nearly 2. Certainly worth going though.

I was there last summer. Nice pics :) did you shoot the bay from the kids playground? Nice views from there out over the bay.
Thanks, I shot the bay from the concrete bit close to the water. I moved out to the kids play ground and behind the bowling green when shooting some kite surfers.

did you get any shots of the old town Mdina?

Unfortunately not, I caught a cold at the end of the first week and decided that half days were preferable for 3 days. Rest of the family went there and a big trip around gozo too which I had to miss. I got to gozo later on but didn't get to see as much as they did the first time around.

Some more.

Sliema. Not my favourite place as it seems to have become a place for homesick Brits. The Tigne Point shopping centre seems to be expanding as there are plenty of cranes about.

Mosta. There are a couple more shots to sort for both these.

Sorry to hear you got sick

love that last shot

Sorry to hear you got sick
A bit annoying but I haven't had a cold in over 3 years so it was well overdue. Even then I was lucky it was only a runny nose and a slightly stuffy head for 3 days. After that, it was gone.

That shot of Mosta dome proved to me that 20mm is not always wide enough. Dad didn't have the fisheye with him so had to make do with 28mm.

The random odd's and ends left.

On Sundays the Maltese seem to love going out on their motorbikes. All ages and all manner of different bikes. I found a comfy spot along the road in Melleiha and practised panning using AF-C D9. The old 80-200 did quite well considering the slow geared AF and how fast these bikes were going past. Shutter speed was probably a little high so motion blur is limited though the wheels do still show some motion.

There were also a few kite surfers out towards the end of the second week as the winds had picked up. Regardless, most activities available on Malta are water based.
