Is there any way to use a microphone with XP live? I am doing a little disco for my boys birthday and using the PC as a sound source. I want to be able to shout at the kids over a microphone, anyone know if this is possible?

The amp Im using has no mic input and I dont have a mixer.
    Cheers,
    Alun

Does your sound card or MB have a mic in connection?

Well, if you simply un-mute the mic, turn up the volume for the mic and speakers and talk through it you should hear yourself comming out of the speakers.

    Cheers for that.
What I didnt realise is that you can enable microphone in the playback section of volume control. Mine was initially hidden!

You might need to double click the Vol control icon, select Option>Properties and make sure the gain for the mic imput is at a reasonable level.

If it's too quiet when fully turned up, go to Advanced and tick mic boost. Close the mixer.

You can still control the overall volume with the windows mixer.
