Hi there, am hoping someone might have a work round for me. I've got a wired hi fi and speaker system that I love and really don't want to get rid of if I can avoid it, but also really want to be able to make it multiroom by adding a wireless speaker for another room.

I know I can do this with a Sonos speaker and a Connect Amp but this seems pretty pricey way round - does anyone know a cheaper alternative that still works and sounds good?
    Thanks!

    1. Have a look at Audio Pro Add-on range and their Link unit that can make your existing hifi part of a multiroom set up.

Chromecast Audio is the obvious one. Also look at Yamaha's MusicCast range.

Chromecast audio is brilliant, cheap, good quality and you can add them to each room for a multi room setup.

Having been a Musiccast user for about two years now, I would have to take some issue with the claim that it's "developing all the time". The most recent "release" -- version 2.40 -- took them five months from May to October and contained exactly one new feature or upgrade. And that feature had almost nothing to do with music ( it was the ability to share custom room photos and settings between multiple phones ).

At that rate, I won't live to see them fix the actual bugs and issues, like their miserable wireless implementation. None of the bugs that I have reported have seen any action -- like an inability to keep multiroom playback from skipping and stumbling.

I would recommend Chromecast. I should've gone that route, but I wanted multiroom integrated into devices, not via an adapter.
