I thought people may wish to hear about my current experience with the JVC LT-17E31. Although it seems like a great screen it has a major dead pixel problem. I bought 2 last week from John Lewis (price matching Sound & Vision). One seems fine (I hope its not just that I havent spotted the dead pixels yet) but the other had 6 small green dead pixels. So back to JL I went, no problem to swap (once checked), got another out of the stock room and more dead pixels. I didnt have time to check another so took one on my out. Got it home - dead pixels including a bright red one in the centre of the screen. Back it went for one more try (at this point JL said they just wanted to give me the cash back becuase they couldnt just keep opening boxes). I insisted on one more try, got it home and hey presto MORE DEAD PIXELS. Is there no quality control at JVC. 4 screens with dead pixels. Looks like its a refund for me. 2 lessons here: 1. These screens are not acceptable. 2. Buy from JL if possible - Id have been gutted if Id have bought mail order and had to keep sending back these things.
